Examples like this are why I get so mad at people who say sexism towards men doesn’t exist. Men are constantly judged on their masculinity, expected not to show emotion, expected to be broad and built and have a chiseled jaw. If they aren’t, they’re treated like they aren’t men at all.
I’d wager that common sexism is equal for both genders, and equally harmful.
Sexism towards men does NOT exist. What you find sexist and harmful is that, as an insult, a man is often compared to a woman. Society would find that its men get treated a lot better if it treated women better, simply because it wouldn’t villify women for being emotional and as a result, men wouldn’t be ‘emasculated’ for it.from Dictionary.com
sex·ism
[sek-siz-uh m]noun
1.attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles.2.discrimination or devaluation based on a person’s sex
SEXISM IS DISCRIMINATION BASED ON A PERSON’S SEX… YOU CAN BE SEXIST TOWARDS A MAN.
You’re attacking the wrong part of the argument here. They know and understand the definition of the word.
What it comes down to is they think they only way to insult a man is compare him to a woman. Which is just plain wrong.
Being emotional should be vilified; it is action of a child, not an adult, to allow their emotions to run wild and determine their behavior and reactions. To have emotions is human, to control your reaction is mature.
though I agree with your point, this was just one of several posts that this person had posted, indicating the it was impossible to discriminate against a man, simply because he is a man. This was me venting my frustration with their ignorance.
